Specializations
I specialize in working with women, teens, and whole family systems.
Anxiety, depression, life change and trauma are my specialties. EMDR training allows me to hone in on the source of the negative and reduce (even eradicate) the unhealthy responses to painful situations.
I find working with families facing and experiencing loss to be a privilege. End-of-life issues as well as dealing with on-going health struggles are also a specialty.
Having been the director of Children's Ministries in an evangelical church for 18 years , I know the value of having a safe place for men and women in full-time ministry to process their hurts and needs. And I find great satisfaction in working with women who are in difficult marriages, but find their husbands unwilling to attend therapy. Regarding my therapeutic approach, I do not believe that one-size fits all in therapy and so I work to be "responsibly eclectic" in my approach. I also believe that therapy must be practical, and so I work with the client to develop new skills and approaches to life.
