About Christian Counselors of Texas

For over 35 years Christian Counselors of Texas, Inc. (CCT) has been a volunteer organization of professional Christian counselors, therapists, ministers, students, and other individuals who are committed to helping people address the emotional issues and situations affecting their lives. CCT members believe that we can better improve the welfare of our state and our practices by working together as an association of Christian counselors.

Helping one another grow professionally and spiritually is a significant part of who we are as an association. Since organizing in 1982, CCT has been providing both local and state-wide support to Christian counselors and therapists in Texas.

State-wide, CCT conducts an annual conference that features nationally recognized speakers as well as provides opportunities to earn CEUs and network with other mental health care professionals from around Texas. At the local level, CCT local chapters gather throughout the year for workshops, fellowship, and support.

CCT membership includes professional counselors and therapists with advanced graduate degrees, who are licensed to practice in the State of Texas. We also support members with pastoral interests or ministry within or to an organized church. As well, we engage with and support graduate students in an accredited counseling program.

As a service to the general public, CCT publishes an online directory of our professional members. We provide this directory to assist others in finding a professional counselor or therapist who is capable of incorporating spiritual practices with professional therapy.

If you are involved in the mental health community in Texas, we welcome the opportunity for you to join us. Please explore our website, visit a local chapter, or contact us directly. We look forward to working and growing together for the betterment of Texas and the glory of God.

Our Purposes

  • To further the teachings and tenets of the Christian faith and through Christian counseling to support the activities of churches and/or agencies whose purpose is to further the Christian faith.
  • To investigate and discuss the relationship between the Christian faith and the professional practices of counseling and to instruct and disseminate information regarding these practices.
  • To incorporate the Christian faith into the daily practice of counseling.
  • To foster harmony and unity among Christians in counseling and guidance professions regardless of specific denominational affiliation.
  • To provide mutual spiritual support and to fellowship together in the Christian faith to honor Christ the Savior.

We Believe

  • In God the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
  • That the one true God is the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, three distinct persons, but of one and the same divine essence, equal in power, equal in eternity, and equal in majesty.
  • In the divine inspiration, integrity, and final authority of the Bible as the Word of God.
  • In the unique deity of our Lord Jesus Christ as the one and only begotten Son of God the Father.
  • In the representative and substitutionary sacrificial death of our Lord Jesus Christ as the necessary atonement for our sins.
  • In the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration and in the life of the believer.
  • In the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, and that blessed hope, His personal return.
  • In the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, to be judged by God.
  • In the value and importance of the local church gathering regularly for corporate worship, the observance of ordinances, edification through the Scriptures, and mutual encouragement and fellowship.
